About Laura
In 1994, I had the classic mid-life crisis. My hectic life in the corporate sector seemed to lack meaning, and the job stress was counter-productive to managing my Type I diabetes. In a leap of faith, I returned to school to re-tool and pursue my passion for health and fitness. The rewards have been gratifying beyond my imagination. Because my personal journey in fitness has included physical and emotional challenges, my understanding and compassion for others on the road has been deepened.
I worked as a personal trainer for Club One in San Francisco for 7 years in addition to managing health clubs for the company. Concurrently, I opened my private fitness practice specializing in the needs of mid-life women and the exercise averse. I broadened my skills by studying health coaching to help my clients tackle the impediments to achieving their ultimate health and fitness goals.
For the past 8 years I have managed the thriving Fitness Center at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco.
I have been a peer counselor for diabetics, a motivational health and wellness speaker for private industry, and a frequently interviewed fitness expert on KPIX-TV. In my free time, I love to hike the trails of Marin County, practice Anusara Yoga, and rock out in Zumba dance fitness classes. I also enjoy preparing healthy meals for friends, gardening and playing with my crazy cat Dino.
